COMMUNITY CENTRE

The simple, efficient forms allow for straightforward construction in phases.  Each pod is either conceived as a distinct or innately flexible program to accommodate a diverse range of activities and future needs.

The circular juxtaposition intersecting two of the pods acts as the Main Artery of connection and transition for the Community Centre while the deliberate rotation of the central rectangular form to the northeast not only increased the dynamics of the design but more importantly further enhanced the Heart of the design.  AS one enters the circular space, the intimate experience deliberately transitions you through a narrow opening that intentionally constrains your line of sight.  Then as the rectangular form rotates, the space dramatically unfolds to expansive views of a playfield, the coastline and Atlantic Ocean beyond.

 

The design strategy is to encourage spontaneous interactions and foster a strong sense of community while seeking to create spaces where paths naturally cross, leading to informal gatherings and strengthening social bonds.
